Dr. Dafizal bin Derawi

Dr. Dafizal is a visionary leader and driving force behind DRABOT, spearheading the advancement of AI and robotics innovation in Malaysia and beyond. With a mission to transform technology users into technology creators, he leads the development of impactful, future-ready solutions that bridge cutting-edge research with real-world applications.
With deep expertise in aerial robotics, mechatronic engineering, and artificial intelligence, Dr. Dafizal has built a distinguished career at the intersection of innovation, education, and applied technology. He is widely recognized for translating complex technological concepts into practical, scalable solutions—particularly in robotics, automation, and intelligent systems.
He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), specializing in robust vision-based control of aerial robots. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronic Systems from The Australian National University (ANU) and a First Class Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Mechatronics) from UTM, where he was honored with the Vice-Chancellor Award as Best Student.
His global exposure includes research roles in Japan and Australia, contributing to advancements in autonomous control, computer vision, and robotics engineering. In recognition of his impact, he was appointed as a Duta Besar Inovasi Akar Umbi (MaGRIs Ambassador) by Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia in 2019.
Today, Dr. Dafizal continues to lead DRABOT in pioneering AI-powered robotics solutions while nurturing the next generation of innovators through accessible, industry-relevant STEM education—cementing his role as a key figure shaping the future of intelligent systems.
Dr. Nurul Dayana binti Salim
Managing Director
Dr. Nurul Dayana Salim is a strategic leader and the Managing Director of DRABOT, driving operational excellence and ensuring the seamless execution of AI and robotics initiatives. She plays a critical role in translating innovation into impact—overseeing end-to-end operations to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions while maintaining strong organizational performance.
With a powerful blend of academic excellence and leadership capability, Dr. Nurul Dayana brings extensive experience in managing technology-driven programs and organizational development. Her expertise lies in bridging the gap between innovation and execution, ensuring that advanced technologies are not only developed but effectively implemented in real-world environments.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), specializing in robust flight control of hexarotor UAV systems. She also earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic and Communication Systems from The Australian National University (ANU), and a First Class Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Communication) from UTM, achieving an outstanding CGPA of 4.0.
Her international research exposure includes her role as a Research Visitor at the renowned Nonami Laboratory, Chiba University, Japan—where she contributed to advancements in autonomous aerial systems and control technologies.
